There is a basic set of steps to take when reporting an incident and filing a claim. But we understand and acknowledge that every case is different, and it’s likely that you will have additional questions. Q: Will I have rental car and/or transportation expense coverage while my vehicle is being repaired?

A: It will depend on your policy. You will have to consult with your customer service agent to review the details of your policy. This is an optional coverage.

 

Q: How long do I have to submit a claim after the incident?

A: It is recommended that you report the claim as soon as possible.

 

Q: How do I get a copy of the police report?

A: You can obtain a copy of the report by going online to the township or city where the accident or incident occurred and filling out a form on their website. It is usually possible to download the report directly. You can also go to the police station and obtain a printed copy.

 

Q: Do I have to file a claim for windshield replacement?  

A: Yes, your new windshield will fall under the comprehensive part of your insurance policy.

 

Q: Will my rates go up if I file a claim?

A: You will need to consult directly with your customer service agent to discuss the many variables and details of your policy that will be relevant to the possibility of your rate being increased.
